Channel Letter Sign Maintenance: Keeping Your Sign Bright in the Central Valley Heat
April 18, 2026
The Central Valley climate is tough on outdoor signs. Triple-digit summers, valley dust, and the occasional winter storm all take their toll. Here is how to keep your channel letter sign looking brand-new year after year.
Summer Heat and LED Performance
Fresno summers regularly hit 105 degrees or higher. Quality LED modules are rated for these temperatures, but poor ventilation inside the letter can cause premature dimming. Our channel letters include passive ventilation channels that keep internal temperatures manageable even during heat waves.
Dust and Grime Buildup
The Central Valley is an agricultural region, which means airborne dust and pollen. A layer of grime on acrylic faces reduces light output significantly over time. We recommend cleaning sign faces every 6 to 12 months with mild soap and water — do not use abrasive cleaners or pressure washers, which can scratch or delaminate the acrylic.
When to Call for Service
If you notice flickering, uneven brightness, or dark spots on your sign, call for service immediately. These are usually early signs of a failing LED module or driver that can be replaced in a single service visit. Ignoring them leads to cascading failures that cost more to fix.
